Immigration and VISA Independent Social Work Reports

Independent Social Work Reports for VISA and Immigration Purposes

We are experienced adult and children’s Social Workers and due to our experience of working across adult and children’s services, we are well placed to undertake reports that examine the effects of families being separated.

Our Independent Social Work Reports for immigration or VISA purposes can be used to support an application or appeal, to enter, remain or return to the UK for foreign nationals. Our reports consider several aspects of relevant immigration law and caselaw and we also use recent research and social work theories to help explore and evidence the potential effects that separation will have upon children, loved ones, and cared for people.

We have several years’ experience writing Immigration reports and we are now receiving a growing number of instructions from Human Rights and Specialist Immigration Solicitors. Typically, there are three areas we are asked to assess and write reports although we are always happy explore new areas that fall within our expertise:

  • For a person to come to live in the UK with family because they are an adult dependent
  • For a person to remain living in the UK – the impact of their removal on their family, children or a cared for person if the individual is a carer.
  • For a person to return to the UK to live following their removal.

When the person being assessed is a caregiver or plays a significant role in the care of a vulnerable adult, we can report on the significance of the care they provide and the effects on the vulnerable adult should their carer be removed whilst also exploring the practical consequences both individually (which may include reduced choice, having to move into care, reduced quality of life).  We can also consider the societal constraints of state-funding, availability and quality of care. A care needs assessment to evidence the care needs of the vulnerable person will be completed and summarised, using the legislative framework (and language) of the Care Act 2014 within the report.

our fees for Immigration or VISA Social Work reports are £750 plus VAT for each report (we do not charge for travel or mileage); we also accept Legal Aid Agency (LAA) funding and we charge a reduced rate to reflect LAA accepted rates. We aim to file our reports within 4 weeks of the assessment taking place but can complete them sooner if required, or you have a hearing approaching that cannot be adjourned.
